Four youths from the Info Tech School, namely Chintami Santo, Neo Jun Wei Rustin, Ng Yu Zhen and Xu Li Shan, presented a special and memorable youth day gift to the youth community of the North East District in the form of a one-stop Youth Portal for the North EastCommunity Development Council (NECDC).
This portal, a TP-NECDC community collaborative project, saw students developing an interactive portal for youths to communicate and exchange ideas on issues related to the community they live in. These students from the Diploma in Internet and Multimedia Development, planned the project, including researching on the clients’ requirements, developing the design concept and writing programming codes. Truly living up to its “energy” hype, this portal empowers youths to upload and showcase their original works and achievements, surf for hip information including music, movies and fashion while reaching out to other youths via the discussion forum.
Fellow youths surveyed on the portal found the design theme of the portal to be ‘captivating’ and its contents useful. The industry partner, NECDC, commended the quality of the students’ work and was pleased to have collaborated with the School. The portal has since been formally endorsed as part of the official NECDC website and was launched by Mr Sin Boon Ann, Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC, on 2 July 2006.
